I wrote this song about trying my best to live in the moment, with some help from my friends.

Whatever has already happened in your life is done, and whatever happens next is yet to be. We live only in the present moment, and as much as it can be hard to feel like we are there sometimes, I believe that now is all we have. And so, here we are. What will you do with the moment right in front of you? Only you can decide how you will change what happens next.

Here's something to consider: I wrote this song more or less all in one evening about two years ago, and then for one reason or another, I didn't do anything about it. Being yourself can be one of the hardest things you ever do, and it felt like a pretty scary prospect for me at the time, it paralysed me. What if nobody likes who I really am, what I really sound like when I write something of my own? What if everyone rolls their eyes and says, hey that's not Bach, that's not a Zelda cover? And those things are nice, but they aren't entirely... me. They don't really allow me to show you who I actually am on the inside. And I think that's something that everybody wants, isn't it? To be seen as themselves, not just wearing various masks (as fun as masks can be from time to time!).

I asked my friend and old bandmate David to write a guitar solo, and my dear friend Dom to arrange string parts for the second half of the song. It felt so much better all of a sudden to be surrounded by friends as I listened to the arrangement. Just having the courage to ask them and to share this musical experience with them has been wonderfully comforting, even though we organised everything remotely in our own homes. I feel surrounded and supported by great friends every time I listen to it.

I hope you enjoy this little window into how I sound when I play my own music. I'll be opening a few more of those windows as time goes on. Thanks for listening.
