While the iPhone 5 and its new Lightning connector started shipping a couple weeks back, the new Lightning Adapters are just now making their way through FedEx this week. Apple is offering two adapters, which essentially the same except one is a dock-style piece and the other is a short cable.

The adapters will allow the iPhone 5 and upcoming iPods to utilize older 30-pin gadgets. The adapter can also be used for charging if you happen to be short a USB Lightning cable. The big limitation to both adapters is they do not transmit video. Those looking to utilize their iPhone 5 with an HDMI, VGA, or any of the RCA video connector will have to wait for a new solution.

The Lightning to 30-pin adapter runs $29 and the Lightning to 30-pin Adapter 0.2m cable is $39.
