Are rainbows really half circles? #shorts #science
Rainbows are a beautiful and fascinating natural phenomenon that have captured the human imagination for centuries. Did you know that rainbows are actually full circles? However, we only see a semicircle of a rainbow because the ground blocks the lower half.
Rainbows are formed by the reflection, refraction, and dispersion of light in water droplets in the atmosphere, and the colors we see in a rainbow are caused by the different wavelengths of light bending at slightly different angles. The order of colors in a rainbow is always the same, with red on the outer edge and violet on the inner edge.
While rainbows are most commonly seen in the sky after a rain shower, they can also be seen in other forms of precipitation, such as mist, dew, and fog. Additionally, secondary rainbows can sometimes be seen outside the primary rainbow, with the colors in reverse order.
Next time you see a rainbow, remember that it's actually a full circle, and you're only seeing half of it!
