Assassin’s Creed Rogue ist ein im November 2014 erschienenes Computerspiel von Ubisoft. Es gehört, wie bereits die Vorgänger, dem Action-Adventure-Genre an. Es ist der insgesamt siebte Teil der Assassin’s-Creed-Reihe und der letzte Teil der Serie, der auf der siebten Konsolengeneration erschienen ist.
Das Spiel stellt eine Verbindung zwischen Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag und Assassin’s Creed III her und bildet den Abschluss der Kenway-Saga. Zudem besteht eine Verbindung zum gleichzeitig erschienenen Assassin’s Creed Unity.
Die Handlung beginnt ein Jahr nach den Ereignissen von Black Flag, mit einem neuen, unbenannten Spielercharakter aus der Ich-Perspektive, der für Abstergo Entertainment arbeitet. Bei der Untersuchung der Erinnerungen von Shay Patrick Cormac, einem Assassinen, der im Nordatlantik während des Siebenjährigen Krieges in Nordamerika handelt, wird versehentlich ein versteckter Virus ausgelöst, der die Abstergo-Server lahm legt. Der Spieler wird von Melanie Lemay und dem Chef von Abstergo, Otso Berg, beauftragt, Cormacs Erinnerungen weiter zu erkunden und das Animus-System wieder online zu bringen. Zusätzlich finden sich Hinweise, dass Shay sich von den Assassinen abgewendet hat, um sich den Templern anzuschließen.
Die Handlung um Shay Patrick Cormac spielt zur Zeit des Siebenjährigen Krieges und begleitet den Hauptcharakter Shay Patrick Cormac bei seiner Wandlung vom Assassinen zum Templer. Dabei trifft der Spieler unter anderem auf den Templer Haytham Kenway, der bereits Auftritte in Assassin’s Creed III und Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag hatte und der versucht, den nordamerikanischen Assassinenorden auszurotten. Die Rahmenhandlung des Spiels ist in Nordamerika angesiedelt. So besucht der Spieler New York und das Appalachian River Valley sowie den nordatlantischen Ozean.
Assassin's Creed Rogue is an action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Sofia and published by Ubisoft. It is the seventh major installment in the Assassin's Creed series, and is set between 2013's Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and 2012's Assassin's Creed III with its final mission being the prologue to 2014's Assassin's Creed Unity. It is the last of the Assassin's Creed games to be released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game was first released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in November and December 2014 in North America, Oceania, Europe and Japan, and released for Microsoft Windows on March 10, 2015. A remastered version was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 20, 2018. It was released on the Nintendo Switch as part of Assassin's Creed: The Rebel Collection alongside Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag on December 6, 2019.
The plot is set in a fictional history of real-world events and follows the centuries-old struggle between the Assassins, who fight for peace with free will, and the Templars, who desire peace through control. The story is set in the mid-18th century during the Seven Years' War, and follows Shay Patrick Cormac, an Assassin-turned-Templar who hunts down former members of his Brotherhood after being betrayed by them. Gameplay in Rogue is very similar to that of Black Flag with a mixture of ship-based naval exploration and third-person land-based exploration with some new features.
Upon release, Rogue received a mixed reception; while most critics praised the game's twist on the traditional formula by playing as a Templar, the mature story-line, the complex protagonist, the sophisticated depiction of the fight between Templars and Assassins, as well as the additions to the franchise's lore and the naval warfare gameplay, other reviewers criticized it for failing to innovate the series' formula and its similarities to Black Flag.
