If you can’t enter the west island mountain is because you have not finished Asgard AND/OR Joutenhiem questline. Although some people don't get the orange gate bug anyway.
HOWEVER, there is a way to get past the orange gate using a small and easy trick. Just Summon your Mount i.e. deer and run towards the entrance with full speed and as soon as you approach, jump off your mount and you'd be able to get inside the cave.
