With the return of the Zandvoort Circuit to the World Championship calendar, I felt it appropriate to take a look through the evolution of the Grand Prix race car around this legendary race track on the Dutch coast.

As far as the video itself, this took 4 days from the first hotlap capture to upload, plus another 2 days for YouTube to process it to full resolution. It comprises 33.3 gigabytes of raw video and audio, and has a final rendered size of 36.6 gigabytes as uploaded. The side-by-side segment at the end features 20 videos playing simultaneously split across 21 visual and audio tracks. To date, this is the longest, largest, and most technically challenging single video project that I have ever done. Getting the 20 hotlaps to run concurrently sent my computer right up its outright limits in processor and memory capacity, and the renderer crashed several times in the process - thankfully, not during the approximately 8-hour final rendering time. From a production standpoint, I set the laps across 2 in-game days, so you will notice a time of day progression throughout the video's duration, as well as a sunset and sunrise time-lapse between the F2007 and FW31 runs. I've done the time of day progression many times in other comparison videos, but it is certainly quite noticeable here given the overall length of the hotlap sequence. For most of the onboard views, I have positioned the cameras manually using the developer camera applications native to Assetto Corsa, which was mostly done to ensure relatively consistent perspectives from one car to another, as default camera placement can vary greatly between cars.

All in all, I hope that this quixotic project was worth it - enjoy.
