🏢 ⚖ ️ Justice Branch | Chief Justice of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Luís Roberto Barroso, and Justice Luiz Fux engaged in a discussion at the end of the plenary session on Thursday (August 14, 2025). The reason for the discussion was the change in the reporting of the case regarding the collection of CIDE-Technology, an intervention contribution in the economic domain that applies to financial remittances abroad as remuneration for contracts involving the use or transfer of foreign technology.

Fux complained that he had not been retained as the reporting judge of the case and that Barroso had "directly" passed the reporting role to Flávio Dino, who filed a dissenting opinion and whose understanding ultimately prevailed. The Chief Justice countered: "You can bring the session back. I have the highest regard for Your Excellency, and Your Excellency is not being faithful to the facts."
