Beyond the Limit: Ultimate Climb (Windows 95) - Longplay Part 1 with No Commentary
This game was released in 1996 by Microsoft Kids, to the sheer bafflement of the world. It's an "educational" rock climbing simulator that plays a little bit like a vertical version of The Oregon Trail. You choose a climber and a guide from a selection of four different characters, pick your starting equipment, then sally forth and make your way to the top of a large mountain range.
This game starts to become frustratingly difficult in later areas, as rocks will start to fall down from the walls and certain handholds will be inhabited by dangerous animals that can cause you to take damage and also fall if you're not securely anchored. Grabbing handholds without falling is also determined by random chance, which decreases as your character loses energy.
This part of the longplay covers the first mountain range of the game. Stay tuned for the more difficult Golden Eagle area, and also a death reel. I also apologise for the glitchy audio in certain places of the longplay. I emulated this in a Windows 98 build of VM Virtualbox, and it's notoriously hard to get audio emulation running correctly.
