BGMI Ban REAL Reason: Govt Officials Say It's A BIG Cyber Threat To India
The hugely popular game--BGMI--is banned in India. No doubt that the BGMI ban puts a big question mark on the future of eSports in India but senior government officials say that the ban was necessary.
According to a news report by News18, it was a report by a central intelligence agency and communication from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) that triggered a ban on popular battle royale game Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI).
“These apps have re-launched in India just like old wine in a new bottle but they didn’t install any server in India. Also, they collect data that can be misused like location, audio, and access to other critical information. BGMI is also a rebranded version of PUBG," a senior official said.
But the good news is that Krafton is talking with the Indian government to find solutions to these concerns.
