The Room is a puzzler with an attention to graphical detail that is almost unheard of in most games. The dented door on the start screen makes the woodwork feel alive, to the polished woodwork of the box, and even to the artwork of the contraptions themselves. However, what is a game about puzzles if there are no puzzles, riddles, and the like to solve? For this game, that question is answered in a swarm of puzzle after puzzle, with a few riddles mixed in, that is cleverly meshed together to make you think that whatever is in this chest is worth all the effort to prevent someone from getting to it. There are many types of puzzles in the game from rotating puzzles, timed contraptions, key puzzles, and the list goes on and on with some of the puzzle ideas meshed together for a cohesive whole. With this said, the object that binds them all together is a single eyepiece that will reveal things hidden from the naked eye and, oddly enough, you must assemble it before really getting into the depths of the madness that will tear your soul apart.

Now lets get out of glowering review status and into much of the lackluster nature of the puzzles themselves, irrespective of their cohesive nature, and let it be known that due to how close together they are many of them can be readily solved within seconds of each other once an item is obtained. This gives the feeling of a rather linear nature to the puzzle solving, but at least it is not like many puzzle/adventure games of the past where missing an item meant you could not complete the game.

Onto the real question, can you solve the puzzle of the Null element? or will you be sucked into its depths just as your dead relative was before you?
