Bootleg 8-Bit Games Demo : 3D Block [Blockout clone]
Blockout was released in 1989 in arcades, and the Sega Mega Drive & Genesis in 1991. Between the two came this unauthorized port, featuring a shadowy woman on the title screen. If you beat Level 20, you apparently get to see more of her. We won't be doing that here.
This is found on the Family Pocket handheld system as one of many bootleg games, but it's not one I've seen on a minisystem before. The controls are pretty difficult; it's not easy to intuitively understand how the blocks are going to rotate, and you have to hit Start to get them to drop quickly - something I didn't figure out for a while into this demo. Even as a pretty good Tetris player, manipulating things in pixelated 3D space was rough stuff.
Found on the Family Pocket 2000. Get yours here!
