🔴Brandon Lee's The Crow Co-Star Has Strong Reaction To Bill Skarsgård's Remake Look🔴
Rochelle Davis, the actor who played Sarah alongside Brandon Lee in the original The Crow movie, has offered her thoughts about Bill Skarsgård's take on the character. Based on the independent comic book series by James O’Barr, the long-gestating remake is finally set to arrive in theaters on June 7. Recently, a series of first-look images offered audiences a glimpse of Skarsgård as a heavily tattooed Eric Draven, generating a wave of backlash and countless comparisons to Jared Leto’s Joker from 2016’s Suicide Squad.
Speaking with TMZ, Davis offered her own thoughts about Skarsgård's version of Eric Draven, echoing many of the sentiments already widely circulating online with a simple “Yuck”. Suggesting that she hates the character’s “dingy, dirty, grungy” look, Davis posited that the producers should have cast someone who more closely resembles Lee out of respect for the late actor. She also wishes there was more diversity in the cast, and that anyone other than a straight, white male would have been a better pick.
Long before Skarsgård landed the role of Eric Draven in The Crow reboot, an extensive list of other prospective candidates had been in consideration at various points in the project’s history. With potential castings previously including the likes of Jason Momoa, Tom Hiddleston, Bradley Cooper and even Bill’s older brother Alexander, fans of the original movie have been struggling to come to terms with the idea of a reboot and a new Eric Draven for decades.
Between the original movie’s enduring cult status, and the tragic nature of Lee’s death during its production, whoever was destined to replace Lee in the reboot would be facing an incredibly daunting task in proving themselves worthy of the role. Yet, while Skarsgård's “grungy” version of Eric Draven may have come as a shock to many, it more closely harkens back to the character’s original inspiration in many ways. With O’Barr previously citing punk rock legend Iggy Pop as the basis for his character’s comic book design, Skarsgård’s disheveled look and lithe frame do seem to reference these specific origins.
