Brooks Nader, model of "Sports Illustrated" magazine living in the USA, announced that he was followed by an unknown person for five hours with the "AirTag" tracking device of Apple, which was secretly placed in his jacket in a bar.
Brooks Nader (26) of Lebanese origin, one of the models of "Sports Illustrated" magazine, explained the "AirTag" incident in order to warn other women. Brooks Nader said that while sitting in a restaurant in New York City, USA, a person secretly placed an "AirTag" device, which Apple produced to track items and prevent them from getting lost, in his jacket. Sharing on social media to warn women, Nader said that a person whose identity he does not know followed him to his home for 5 hours via AirTag.
Received a notification
The model said she noticed the device after she received a notification on her phone that an unknown item had "moved with it for a while." Reacting to Apple on social media, saying that the device is potentially dangerous, Nader warned women to "Check your bag, coat, pockets and surroundings". Speaking to the British "Daily Mail" newspaper, Brooks Nader said, "My jacket was on the bar stool at my first location, the Odeon restaurant in New York's TriBeCa district. I left my jacket on the stool when I went to the bathroom. I think someone placed the AirTag in my jacket pocket at that time."
What is AirTag?
AirTag, produced by Apple, allows to find their location via the phone when they are lost by placing them on the items. In order to prevent the device from being used for malicious purposes such as harassment, Apple sends an alert notification to the person's iPhone when it detects that a foreign AirTag is tracking the phone owner. If AirTag does not return to its owner within 24 hours, it gives an alarm on the spot. If the person is using another Android phone rather than an iPhone, they are aware of the AirTag device in the vicinity with Apple's Tracker Detect application. nonstop news
