This is not a guide, it's a brief summary of the route I've taken so far on Oldschool runescape (OSRS) with the mindset of building an account for PvM:
Completed majority of F2P quests, and especially Waterfall quest.

Sand Crabs to 60-65 stats
Completed Dwarf Cannon quest.
(Optional) explore other options e.g train ranged at ogres near castle wars with a dwarven cannon (costly).
Did all pre-quests and completed Underground Pass for Iban's Staff. Completed Barrows for approx 60 runs.
Achieved 94 quest points. Made some progression towards barrows gloves.
Got to 45 defence and 65 ranged, completed Animal Magnetism for Ava's accumulator, obtained Fire Cape from fight caves.
Trained melee stats at the Nightmare Zone until current cb level of 97. Optimal set-up, obsidian armour with toktz-xil-ak (obby sword) for 10% melee attack and strength boost and berserker necklace.
Quests completed to unlock bosses for Nightmare Zone: Vampire Slayer, Witch's House, Lost City, Tree Gnome Village, Holy Grail, Fight Arena, Grand Tree.
Got my stats up to roughly 70 and then decided to go for a dragon defender. It took 5 and a half to 6 hours (3,300+ tokens) I was unlucky.
I then used an abyssal whip and dragon defender to train both attack and defence.
You'll notice I didn't do much slayer (level 45). I'll start this now I have 80 melee stats, and once I hit 75 ranged for blowpipe and unlock bursting for mage.
Pre-quests for Desert Treasure completed for 43 thieving, The Feud completed to unlock blackjacking as a thieving method.
As at the date of this video, combat level 97.
Playtime is roughly 9 days.
