Thanks to Dan for the heads-up on this existing, as well as the tips on how to make things happen in the software.

Taken from the Neohabitat site: "Neohabitat is a relaunch of the first massively multiplayer online roleplaying game, Lucasfilm's Habitat. Originally developed in 1985 by Lucasfilm Games (now LucasArts) for the Commodore 64, Habitat is considered the grandfather of modern MMORPGs. Neohabitat is an open-source project led by Randy Farmer, one of Habitat's creators, reviving the original Habitat world."

You get a character and go exploring in this town. There are buildings to visit and items to pick up and use, and if other people are around you can interact with them. It sounds basic by 2017 standards, but this was 30 years ago. I bet this was the neatest thing around in its initial run, and I'm glad I got a chance to see how it plays, even being three decades late to the party. It's cool that people preserved/resurrected this.
