Probably the best shoot'em up ever made for the Commodore 64 is Uridium by Andrew Braybrook. Watch this UK PAL version load from tape in 2021 just like it did for me back in 1986.

In this follow-up to Braybrook's previous offering Paradroid, Uridium wowed players with it's silky smooth scrolling bas-relief graphics that I can't remember seeing anywhere prior on the C64. And that short catchy title music is sure to get stuck in your head after a couple of listens. This was the game that made my friends with Sinclair Spectrums wish they had a C64. Braybrook, if you're out there reading this, thanks for the game man!
