In this lesson we differentiate a composite function e.g. y=(x+2)^2 using the chain rule. We talk about how to differentiate it the old way (by expanding first) and then how to differentiate it the new way (using the chain rule). It is a lot quicker to use the chain rule if you have to differentiate a function like y=(x+2)^5 because expanding that would take too long.
