Can a Video Game TRULY Understand Grief? | An Analysis of RiME
41In this video essay/analysis - we're going to be diving deep into RiME - an adventure platformer that began its journey as a Sony PlayStation 4 exclusive. Half a decade later - it still seems like one of the most underappreciated games from the previous generation of consoles. In this video I shall be taking a look at how it tackles the complex nature of grief throughout its runtime, and if it succeeds or fails in its task of trying to do so.

*I'm sorry yet again for the sometimes dodgy and messy quality of my voice-over... Furthermore Premiere Pro probably just hates my guts and messes a lot of my lines up even if I managed to deliver them correctly...
*Also I can't believe how it switched the nice font I had for this ugly default one in the ending bit... I'm sorry your eyes have to look at that monstrosity.
*PS: There seems to be some kind of a weird issue with how YouTube compressed my VO in this version, affecting my audio balancing, making it sound way different,extremely loud at points - and way worse than in my source file… Nothing I can do right now but rest assured, I will amend this issue on future uploads. Let this be a lesson for me…

Hey! I know that this video is different than usual but there is a very personal reason for that - you might've noticed that I've been gone from this website for a really long time. In truth, I have been dealing with trying to cope with the grief of losing my best friend earlier this year.
That event almost caused me to shut down completely, mentally, emotionally and physically too. I went through a few stages of wanting to even delete this very channel. But I'm here, and I'm working on some new content for you.
