ChatGPT is basically autocomplete on steroids, so it's able to generate very smart (usually) responses to prompts, but tends to struggle when coming up with original thoughts, playing abstract games like chess, or writing original code. This might be changing, though, since OpenAI recently released ChatGPT o1, which has better logic and reasoning ability. Can it write decent code now? Sort of! It’s getting better, but it’s still kinda silly when it comes to trying to write esolang code.
