With Capone, his first feature film since 2015's Fantastic four, director Josh Trank documents the sad, slow, decline of Chicago's most infamous mob boss, Scarface himself, Al Capone.

Capone is not like other gangster movies. If you're looking for a Tommy guns-blazing crime epic, you may be stunned to find a more methodically paced character study that will educate audiences more on the question of "How did Al Capone Die," instead of a modern rehash of classic crime movies like The Untouchables. Yes, this movie may feature Tom Hardy, but don't expect over-the-top Hardy action like you're used to in movies like Venom and Inception.

Still, the titular gangster is in good hands with Tom Hardy. Al Capone is a complex character to portray. Leaning on his previous experiences in projects like Peaky Blinders, Bronson, and Legend, the actor brings the slowly-dying old criminal to life in one of the most Actor-y performances for Tom Hardy. Al Capone is pitiable, but there are flashes of the dangerous brute who once ruled Chicago as a mafia kingpin.

It's been five years since Fantastic 4 came out, but Chronicle director Josh Trank delivered small-scale biography film that could be destined to find a cult following. If you like crime movies, this Tom Hardy Al Capone movie might be worth checking out.
