(CCPlays)1984 NATO Royal Navy Sub Campaign | Part 2: Triple Denial | Cold Waters DotMOD
Previously, in 1984 NATO UK Royal Navy campaign... We sortied into the patrol area, intercepted a contact, but can't locate the subs on sonar, had to disengage.

06-DEC-84 Continued toward patrol area
MISSION: Interdict Soviet subs transiting through the patrol area
We have had another empty encounter, where we never heard the enemy, just three civilian ships on the surface. Either our sonars are REALLY lousy, or the enemy's too deep for us to hear.
We disengaged.
06-DEC-84 another encounter at dusk
We submerged and picked up a Tango to the south, then a confusing contact which turned out to be another Tango. We changed course to come up behind them, and in the distance, we picked up a 3rd sub, a Foxtrot this time.
We decided to get into their baffles, then fed them multiple Tigerfish. And it did work. We have 2 wire channels, so we guided both torpedoes into one Tango each, then had to evade to the southeast when one of the enemy counter-launched torpedoes came a little close, but evasion was successful.
Then it's time to play with the Foxtrot. I expect them in an echelon formation, so I have a Tigerfish, wire on, went into the area, and sure enough, locked on, one noisemaker, then "target breaking up". Their counter-launched torpedo will pass to our south.
Time to disengage, but we have to wait until the torpedoes timed out.
Got an attaboy from fleet command. Apparently, those were our targets, even though our orders were extremely vague.
And the war continues...
