One of the celebrated "twitch" shooter classics from Williams in the same spirit as Robotron 2084 or Defender, Sinistar broke new ground in arcade game history with its 49 way directional controls and stereo sound, and also delivers frantic and addictive gameplay. Sinistar himself has also attained cult status thanks to his digitized speech, and has had many tributes paid to him in other video games, music, animation, and other media.
