CGR's Jonathan, like a lot of people who grew up with an NES, knew the things that MegaMan brought into the household: Addictive gameplay, awesome character designs, sometimes controller busting challenge, and the attitude to just keep playing. After 6 runs in ol' 8-bit world, Mega Man needed a graphical lift. Let's be honest, Mega Man 6 just....wasn't as good anymore and it was time to move on. Then enter Mega Man X, the more darker, serious toned Mega Man game. X was amazing and by every notion is a fantastic game. It was time the original caught up. Mega Man 7 featured amazingly detailed sprites, great enviorments, some hidden secrets to collect, and cutscenes that just looked...good. But with change means things are not always perfect, and while MM7 is by NO means a bad game, it just didn't have the same fun-factor that the original few NES games did. My personal favorites are 2, 3 and 4. I'll pass on most of the rest. (Newer games not withstanding). You can get Mega Man 7 a few different ways, including the Anniversary Collection on GCN or other last-gen platforms, or did up the cartridge somewhere. Or you could be like some disgruntled fans who didn't care for the non-NES-ness of this Mega Man outing and remake it into a Famicom game.
