Chanting For Change
0Karen Palmer and Teri Angel lead the chanting of two powerful chants to effect change in ourselves and in our world. The first is Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha and the second is Nam Myoho Renge Kyo. As we bring this energy inside for transformation, the shift that happens will go out into the world to change the frequency and vibration of Mother Earth. We invite you to join in with us for any or all of these chantings.
OM – The Sound, the Vibration of the Universe, The Primordial Sound
GAM – The Seed Sound, or bija sound of Lord Ganesha
GANAPATAYE – Another name of Lord Ganesh, the one who overcomes of obstacles.
NAMAHA – I offer you my salutations, I bow to you.
So one full translation of om gam ganapataye namaha is more or less, “salutations to the remover of obstacles.”
Nam comes from the Sanskrit namas, meaning to devote or dedicate oneself.
Myo can be translated as mystic or wonderful, and ho means law.
Renge means lotus blossom.
Kyo literally means sutra and here indicates the Mystic Law likened to a lotus flower, the fundamental law that permeates life and the universe, the eternal truth.
Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is thus a vow, an expression of determination, to embrace and manifest our Buddha nature. It is a pledge to oneself to never yield to difficulties and to win over one’s suffering. At the same time, it is a vow to help others reveal this law in their own lives and achieve happiness.
