2The Original Game Boy is one of the biggest 'game changers' in the history of video games, and essentially ushered in the popularity of handheld games. There are many games that will be classic forever. There are, however, a much, much higher number of simply awful, forgettable, or downright weird games. CiB Game Boy Theater shows you some of the games you might not (and shouldn't be...) familiar with.
Let's be completely fair to NBA All-Star Challenge. Is it fun in 2020? No, not at all. But I can tell it is one of those games that was pretty impressive when it first came out in the early 90s. You have a variety of game modes, some pretty good graphics on the free throw part, and realistic shoe squeaking. Really, it would have been pretty cool for the on-the-go sportsball playing back then. It's just really tough to stomach now. NEXT.
Oooooh, Star Trek: The Next Generation: Beyond the Nexus. Mmmm I'm sure THIS will be good.
And..... it's not? At least I don't know if it is. I cannot beat the first level. That's the absolute best game design here. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but why is it taking so long for me to beat these ships TWO MINUTES INTO THE GAME. Seriously, how long is it supposed to be? Where's my 'SEVERE DAMAGE'?? I'm done lol. They'll be more bad games next time!
