As someone who deals with both the nostalgia for old games (blind or otherwise) and the immediate feedback on newly released titles, something occurred to me: I think we might be spoiled by the current state of games.
Parker and I discuss how we feel about the current state of video games, and how, in general, things are so much better now than they were 15, 20, 30 years ago. We discuss how nostalgia works, and how it can sometimes blind us to reality – for example: noting the best 20 games on the NES (which are fantastic) and forgetting to mention the bottom 250 NES games (which are far worse than anything released nowadays).
We look through many eras of video games, and compare the trials and tribulations that we had growing up compared to the present day. Do you think that the state of video games are better than they’ve ever been? Let us know below – enjoy!
