The keel laying ceremony has taken place for HMS Anson, the Royal Navy's latest Astute-class nuclear submarine. It took place at BAe system's plant in Barrow-in-Furness and was attended by members of the submarine service and those who will build her. There will be seven Astute submarines in total, and the government is insisting on massive savings on the remainder of the programme.
