I’m playing Cooking Simulator VR on PSVR2 with Sense controllers.
In this video I am starting the game. I play through the tutorial and start my career as a noob chef opening my own restaurant.
I was expecting a job simulator type thing but this is a lot more complex game than that, with really deep levels of interaction with the world, environmentals and the tools you use. The graphics look solid and things like the ingredients and food you use are looking spot on with things like foods changing as they cook very realistically.
One thing i really liked was the cutting up of stuff, it cuts where you cut and no auto alignment, plus you get graded on how thinly sliced food is. It’s mad the depth here when compared to other vr cook/job sim games.
At the start it felt a little overwhelming as you have to cook dishes, as like in real life. So adding right amounts measured correctly is a must, adding seasonings and garnishes, using the right oils,etc and things like browning and frying foods is really spot on.
Half way through i actually started having a laugh, running around the kitchen, radio on doing my thing! and had flashbacks to my time as a pub chef and manager lol.
You get graded on everything from taste, cooking, presentation, time, how hot food is, how clean you work and even how tidy you leave your kitchen at the end of the day.
This is a full on cooking/restaurant simulator and so far its exceeded my expectations.
I think if you are up for getting a restaurant started, learning how to make fantastic meals correctly and becoming the top place to eat in the area! this game is for you. But i think youd struggle with it if you didnt want such a simulation, theres a lot more depth to this than other VR cooking/job games ive played.
