Copy of Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 3 Playthrough Part 1 - NYC & NYSE (Visual Fix)
To be honest, this isn't my first time visiting New York in a video game. The first time was in Gran Turismo 4 on the PS2. Wait, there was a time before that. Max Payne 2. The city was dark, gritty, and it was always raining for some reason. But the city (or section of it) wasn't as detailed as it was in GT4, though. Then there was that little section in San Andreas, when CJ went to Liberty City to do a bit of wet work. And even after that, I saw the city through two eras (the 70s and the millennial bridge) in Driver: Parallel Lines.
I left for a minute. Then I came back on the PS3, as Niko Bellic. My god, did the city change (there were still things from the 90s lingering about, like internet cafes, but beyond that everything had that post 2K feel. At that time, I left the legit racing scene for mercenary work. Better pay, more action, but bulls**t benefits. The American Dream turned out to be a load of dogs**t, but I didn't care, so long as I had Niko's cousin, and that cute federal agent at my side.
Now I'm back, under a different persona, and the city's playing host to one, of many, backdrops to a third world war. It's kind of ironic. But I prefer it this way, over the highly saturated look of the 70s, or even the "lived in" feel of the post 2k era. You can't hide behind the lure, and bulls**t, of money, when a single bullet can take all that away in a second. The only thing that matters, is kill, or be killed.
