Omnipresent in the scene since his breakthrough in 2008, Ivan Ramos has reigned supreme with over 200 releases under his belt, 80 of them for his own Suara. Not forgetting his chart-topping remixes for Fat Boy Slim and X-Press II, and collaborations with Green Velvet, Lazarusman and The Horrorist, its’ fair to say this release ‘Technostalgia’ is industrial weaponry.
The title track’s dense tribal drums hold court as wonky sonics add melodic depth and flavour reaching fever pitch by the break. Next, ‘We Live In A World Full Of Rage’ seems to be more current than ever, with the incredible yet surreal scenes that are unfolding in the world around us. It’s sparse and ever-evolving, the percussive energy is really hypnotic.
‘Digital Capitalism’ comes at you with a catastrophic 808 pummelling under the weight of the fierce low end, while masterful manipulation of the percussions draws out every drop of dystopian angst. Rolling yet taking things down a notch is ‘Desert Seas’ which delivers a raw warehouse style of production.
A stripped back fast paced linear release with minimal vox effects to show he’s really taken things darker and harder than ever before.
