CPU Bottleneck? Ryzen 5 2600 vs i5-8600K OC & RTX 2070 How Bad Is It? Fortnite, Apex Legends & more
We mostly test with our overcloked 6-core Intel Core i5-8600K, however to keep it's temperature in check we need one of the best CLC on the market - NZXT Kraken X62. We recently build a mini-ITX system with AMD Ryzen 5 2600, which is again 6-core processor and significantly cheaper - €159 to €269. Adding to that the price of a cheap B350/B450 board and some aircooling versus a Z370+NZXT Kraken X62, the difference doubles - €260 to €530. That is just about the price delta between the RTX2060 and RTX2070 we used in our last review.
So we got the idea - what will happen if we pair a quite fast and pricey card with it - Gainward GeForce GTX2070 Phoenix GS and compare it with the results we have for GTX1660Ti, RTX2060 and RTX2070? Will the CPU running at default speed bottleneck the GPU much compared to one of the best gaming CPU, and overclocked? Should you save the not insignificant price diffrence, or not? Check out our Fortnite, Apex Legends, Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, Strange Brigade, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Far Cry 5 and Far Cry 5 gameplay FPS tests and charts.
