CSS Engine Test Footage (New Charselect for Game Maker 8; possible future M.U.G.E.N. frontend)
I know that this topic is a bit of an old theme, and that some asked about the progress of my last frontend I was working on; months ago I happened to lose out of the blue my folder for MUGEN stuff, including that new frontend from the last video. And what's more, I had been without internet for 3 months due to an lightning, which fried my router and left me out of contact during that time.
However, since August, I had started working from scratch on YET another character select screen (and also got back my internet this month); but I had not integrated any full compatibility with MUGEN yet on its design, rather trying to work on the ease of customizing the CSS itself, and that's where this comes in: CSS Engine is a engine made on GMK8 that is designed for a more flexible system for adding/swapping characters, as well as defining the sprites and sounds that they will use on the CSS through scripts and variables; improving over my previous code on older attempts. As it can be seen on the video, there is also an WIP menu, an better effort at presentation (with the transition style, inspired from SFA3; the used transition will be swappable through a variable in the engine), and something that wasn't really showcased but IS there, is support for looping music with intros (separate intro + loop track).
There isn't any estimated time release for a test build or the source code though, as I will attempt to polish it more in whatever time I have, since there has been some more things keeping me busy, which is why I haven't actually been able to work on it since last month. I'll try my best to keep updates whenever I can though, and if there's enough support for having an place to devlog this (like Twitter posts or the sort), I'm going to have that set.
Also, I'll try to see when I can get to finish my beta VF5/BR3/BR4 lifebars, and when I can upload the rest of the VF5 sounds somewhere.
