The game revolves around the protagonist, who after accomplishing his "deed" sees himself in Bierce's ballroom. Bierce, an old woman then greets him, explains that if he wants to get back to the living world he´ll need to "suffer" more. With that she introduces him to various portals in which he'll need to collect Soul Shards, the reminiscents of human souls, and with them he can finally return to the living world but it won´t be easy, as the soul shards are guarded by bizarre monsters and Malak the owner of them will try to do his best to stop the player.
