Quick tutorial on how to select and use the Kh-66 Grom air to ground missile in DCS: MiG-21bis to take out AAA/ ground target.

Also an example of unguided S-24A rockets and Gsh-23 cannon against soft ground target.

Note: Some textures were flashing on my screen in-game. A crater that was flashing looked like an AAA battery firing. Annoying. I sorted this problem out before and it was to do with multi-gfx card SLI frame rendering. I'm running this with an AMD r290 graphics card this time, however... but I'll see if I can find a solution.

After trying different settings and researching issues with my AMD graphics card (R9 290) ... I've come to the conclusion that this isn't a driver bug or hardware issue and most likely is just to do with some game settings that need to be tweaked.

POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO FLASHING CRATER TEXTURES:

I think that is just Z-fighting on the overlay textures that show the 'hedgerows' between fields.

The same thing occurs with crater textures on the ground, and it's generally pretty hard to avoid in a flight sim, where the possible Z values are huge due to the large distances - when two planar objects are extremely close there may not be enough variable precision to determine which is in front of the other, resulting in the flickering.

This looks like what is happening with the crater textures. It only happens at a certain distance and whatever way the geometry is calculated causes them to flicker or 'fight' with the underlying terrain texture.

Since it appears to only happen at a certain distance a possible solution would be one similar to this:

(as I use High distance settings)

I found that if I set two parameters in bold to same value the flickering/shimmering doesn't happen:

district =
{
nearFullRenderDistance = 400; -- default is 800
nearDistance = 400; -- default is 560

So it may be possible to change the behavior of graphics/texture when the fighter is a certain distance away. Keeping the settings where the texture doesn't flash up to a greater distance where you will not notice the flashing (engaging ground targets within 5+ km) would solve the problem.
