The FIDE Grand Prix 2022 is a series of three chess tournaments to be played between 4 February and 4 April 2022. The top two finishers qualify for the Candidates Tournament 2022,[2] which is the final qualification stage for the World Chess Championship 2023. Two of the tournaments will be played in Berlin, Germany, and one in Belgrade, Serbia.
Hikaru Nakamura and Levon Aronian were respectively the winner and runner-up of the first leg of the series. Richárd Rapport and Dmitry Andreikin were respectively the winner and runner-up of the second leg of the series. Leg 3 of the FIDE Grand Prix 2022 will take place from the 22nd of March to the 4th of April 2022, held in Berlin, Germany. The event is organized by World Chess, a live video feed will be available on the official website.The players are divided into four pools, the players in each pool play a double round-robin mini-tournament. The four winners of the pools progress to the knockout stage. Games 1 & 2 will be group A, 3 & 4 group B, 5 & 6 group C and 7 & 8 group D.Time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves, then an additional 30 minutes for the rest of game, with a 30-second increment from move one.In case of tiebreaks, two rapid games (15 mins + 10 sec) will be played, if still tied two blitz games (3 mins + 2 sec) and if required an Armageddon game (5 mins white to 4 mins black) where black has draw odds.
