Do you need to be an artist to be a tattooer? It's a question many of us have often wondered. Back in the day, many tattooers would consider themselves craftsmen, not artists. This makes sense when you consider so much of the job was simply applying the tattoo into the skin after somebody picked out a design form the wall. These days, it seems like more and more tattooers are starting out in art school and are already well versed in skills like advanced color theory before ever picking up a machine.
