It seems like each patch changes the interaction between Darkness and the Devil's Sight invocation for warlocks. Darkness completely blocks the line of sight to ranged attacks, however it doesn't block melee attacks.

Do keep in mind that Baldur's Gate 3 is still in early access and so the features shown in the video are subject to change and the game is incomplete, so expect more to be added to the game in the future. At time of recording the game was still in Early Access Patch 9, and by the time of the full release of Baldur's Gate 3 things may have changed.
