Doom: Simplicity Playthrough - Map01
Starting something new! A Doom 2 wad (in contrast with Double-Impact's distinct Doom 1 flavour and bestiary) whose name reveals its design: It's simple. AgentSpork, the author in question, intended for short, fun maps. It has a few simple custom monsters here and there, some ACS, and 20 maps.
My good friend DavidPH ( http://www.youtube.com/user/DavidPH55 ) did a run through of this with Xaser's awesome Psychic mod while I was about halfway through Double-Impact. I figured it would be a nice thing to do once I was done with that, if I wanted to keep recording Doom. I'm doing a 100% kills and secrets run in vanilla (as vanilla as the AgentSpork intended), so as not to obsolete Dave's playthrough. He played with a gameplay mod and with audio commentary, so that's more appealing in general!
I've only played the first map so far, but my major criticism from all I've seen is that there's almost not enough ammo (certainly not enough for the pistol), and while there's enough health, you don't have a lot of room for error. You'll also notice one design decision I /DESPISE/ at the beginning of the map that almost forces you to play the next room with an horrible handicap.
