Doraemon Nobita no Dorabian Nights is a side scrolling action game by Hudson Soft and is the second Doraemon game released for the PC Engine system. The game is based on a animated movie originally published in 1991 and starts when Doraemon's friends decide to visit the various worlds hidden inside their favorite books - Sadly, the poor kids quickly realize that it wasn't such a brilliant idea and they all end up being trapped inside the same books. Doraemon must now run to their rescue. The various stages take the popular blue robot-cat to the realm of dinosaurs or to creepy haunted houses. Doraemon can run, jump or use his stunt gun to freeze his enemies for a few seconds. Special items are also scattered around the game and can be found by exploring caves or by standing on top of bigger enemies or elements of the scenery - the ones worth mentioning are the flying-hat giving the player the ability to fly and therefore skip most of a stage, or a special cream enabling him to walk on water. New weapons can also be collected throughout the game, such as the log_gun or homing-bomb-gun. Each 'book world' is divided into several sub-zones all connected by blue doors and Doreamon is free to revisit completed stages at his own volition.
