Drift Trains in Assetto Corsa Online! - Drifting Nissan 350z (Steering Wheel + Pedal Setup)
Assetto corsa drifting learning how to drift in todays video learning how to weight transfer through corner transitions whilst tandem drifting in a big drift train! I have got into a bad habit of using the handbrake on every turn and am now learning how to effectively transition the car with a steady weight transfer with clutch and throttle control! Drifting with a Thrustmaster steering wheel and next level racing gt track cockpit.
Assetto Corsa how to drift tutorial (Weight Transfer)
How to weight transition:
1. Approach the first corner and initiate with a Scandinavian flick (Or Handbrake) to start your first drift
2. Exit the first corner whilst maintaining your drift and aim for the outer side of the track, opposite to the direction of the next corner
3. When close enough to transition to the next corner (On the outside of the track), slowly unwind your counter steer and allow the car to straighten (Whilst maintaining a steady power (Foot on the throttle 30%))
4. Reaction! Once you near the cars straightened position, release the wheel and release the throttle, allow the wheel to freely spin as the cars rotates and enters its next drift direction.
5. The Catch! The car should be freely entering the next drift, using its weight from the previous drift to swing itself in. At this point you have to catch the wheel and apply a steady (50%) Throttle to drive the car forward and prevent it spinning out! It helps to clutch kick a little in the catch to allow the car to regain grip, but only do this if you feel you are losing it, dumping the clutch will make you not as smooth.
Common Problems
1. The car spins out = Your applying too much throttle
2. The Car will not rotate enough = Be faster turning the wheel to straighten the car, or, your previous drift is not deep enough to carry enough speed and weight to enter the next one.
When to use:
This technique is useful in tandems particularly as it allows you to be smooth and maintain a steady speed. Great for leading a casual session! It is easier to use on a flat course/track where the corners are close together.
Tips to help you:
Be smooth and gentle with every aspect of your input, both throttle control and steering input. Apply the throttle gently and guide the wheel rather than forcing it to turn.
On point 5, the catch, dump the clutch and clutch kick a little to help you regain grip.
Practice on a wide track to begin with.
