Star Wars: Battlefront II is a first-/third-person shooter set in the Star Wars universe, developed by Pandemic Studios and released by LucasArts on November 1, 2005 on numerous platforms. In this game, two belligerents (e.g. the Republic/Separatists or the Empire/Rebels) clash on a map and battle each other, with players mostly being common soldiers (e.g. battle droids, clones, or stormtroopers). For the first time in the Battlefront series, however, you could play as Jedi, Sith or other heroes and villains in addition to the usual soldier units. It also featured battles in space for the first time.

Battlefront II includes the following game modes:

• Conquest: Both sides must try to capture all of the enemy's command posts to win the game. From these command posts, new troops can be sent into battle. In addition, you must pay attention to the count of your reinforcements, because once it drops to zero, you lose the game.

• Assault: This game mode is similar to the Conquest mode, except that the battle takes place in space rather than on the surface. A team wins when it reaches its point goal that's shown in the top-center by shooting enemy vessels, doing severe damage to the enemy's capital ship from the outside or landing inside its hangar to destroy the vessel from the inside.

• XL: Both sides battle each other until the enemy's reinforcements drop to zero. In this mode, however, the number of units appearing on the map at any one time is greatly increased, hence the name "XL".

• Hunt: Instead of two normal armies made up of soldiers fighting each other, one side consists of the native species (e.g. the Gungans on Naboo or the Wampas on Hoth). The goal of this mode is to kill all enemy units until their reinforcements drop to zero.

• Capture the Flag (CTF): Either one or two flags are placed on the map and teams must collect them and bring them back to their base. Whoever has captured the most flags after a certain amount of time or has captured a specified number of flags first wins.

"Dxun (pronounced /'dʌ.ksɪn/), also known as the Demon Moon, was the largest of four moons that orbited the Inner Rim world of Onderon. Like its parent planet, it was covered almost entirely by dense jungles that were populated by many species of fierce, predatory animals. [...]

Despite being temperate and habitable, the jungles of Dxun posed major challenges for its inhabitants. Due to its constant rains and wet climate, mechanical devices did not last long and required continuous maintenance. Moreover, the jungles were inhabited by many dangerous predators such as bomas, cannoks, drexls, maalraas, skreevs, and zakkegs, forcing the moon's inhabitants to be armed at all times.

Though considered a moon of Onderon, Dxun and Onderon were almost sister planets. They were so close to one another that it was only a short shuttle ride between them, and they even shared a bit of the same atmosphere. Every year, during Dxun's summer season, the atmospheres of Onderon and Dxun would connect. This allowed the vicious drexls to wander and settle on Onderon, laying the foundations for the Beast Wars."
