Synopsis: The epic story of the first contact, encounter, approach, betrayal and, eventually, life- ranscending friendship, between Karamakate, an Amazonian shaman, the last survivor of his people, and two scientists who, over the course of 40 years, travel through the Amazon in search of a sacred plant that can heal them. Inspired by the journals of the first explorers of the Colombian Amazon, Theodor Koch-Grunberg and Richard Evans Schultes. The director intercuts between the shaman as a young man and an older one as he guides the visitors through the forest. The film is shot in the mazonian forest in richly detailed black and white so intense and immersive that it defines the very character of the film and its final impact on the audience.
