Ep 653 Earthbound
0It's a good game, I just don't think it is up there with the best games on the console. It's interesting because it's so different to almost every other RPG ever made but the combat mechanics feel simple and there's a lot of walking round figuring out who to talk to in order to progress. It's not terrible and maybe if I played it back in the 90's I would be more positive on it but for me now, it just feels a bit like busy work. A big issue is that it doesn't really have an engaging story which makes a lot of the time spent playing it feel pointless. Pointless actually feels like the wrong word, but when i'm playing the game it feels like i'm not really getting anything for my time investment, kind of like how empty calories are to food. HLTB says it takes 28 hours to finish and it just isn't enjoyable enough for me to stick through that.
