In this video I take an analytical look at FMV games and the fatal flaws that come hand in hand with movie-like games. I begin with a quick examination of how game narratives have evolved since their inception, and some of the different ways developers have approached storytelling. From there, the focus shifts onto Erica, a 2019 FMV thriller game. By trying to make Erica both a game and a movie, it fails to be good regardless of which label you give to it.
