Today on reddit I learned about the Rockstor NAS. (http://rockstor.com/) It's exactly what I've been searching for a few years now - a RedHat-based, btrfs NAS. One of the things that had me pining for a Synology because of their SHR RAID hyrbrid was that you could dynamically grow the pool with disks of any size larger than the disks already in the pool. So I wanted to try and see how Rockstor handled that.

So I use KVM to explore adding, removing, and replacing drives in Rockstor. Overall, I like it and I'm excited to set it up on bare metal hardware when I get the chance.
