Extra Snippets of TowerSim
TowerSim, an air traffic control aerodrome tower simulator developed by myself starting 2001.
It is written mainly in C++, C# and OpenGL.
It is used to supplement the training of terminal approach and tower air traffic controllers.
The components consist of,
Video Presentation layer, which can split the display from 1 to 8 monitors or projectors to display a full 360 degree view of the aerodrome and traffic situation.
Traffic generator data layer - this handles all aircraft flight plans, automation, geographical and physics data.
Pilot console - which provide the user interface for target generator operators to add/modify flight plan data for aircraft in the simulated environment, and prompt radio and adjacent ATC instructions needed as part of the training exercise.
Voice switching consoles - VOIP application layer which allow target generator operators and ATC trainees to simulate 'ATC to ATC' and 'Pilot to ATC' voice communications which are part of the training exercise.
