Season 1 of Amazon MGM's adaptation of the video games series, 'Fallout' has dropped in its eight episode entirety on Prime Video...
... and it's quite good, really. I binged the series in a night and a morning and found it highly enjoyable. Like the games, it doesn't take itself seriously, except when it has to, sometimes being highly comedic, but also dipping its toe into straight up drama and pretty much every other genre you can think of.
The basic gist of the story is that 200 years after a devastating nuclear conflict, raiders attack Vault 33 and make off with the lead character's father (Kyle Maclachlan). Lucy (Ella Purnell in a terrific performance) disobeys orders and sets out to the surface to find and rescue her dad.
Along the way, we encounter monsters, mutants, ghouls and fiends. A squire of the Brotherhood of Steel, dons his knight's armour and becomes an ally of Lucy's. The best character, however, is The Ghoul, Cooper Howard(Walton Goggins in a show-stealing turn). He dominates every scene he is in, whether he is being a good guy or, more often than not, a very bad one.
'Fallout' is not the greatest show on Earth, but it is a very entertaining one that tells an interesting story over eight action-packed, funny and gory episodes.
