With my Beyond Oasis playthrough nearing completion, I present the next game playthrough..

Farland Symphony is a JRPG/turn based/strategy game developed and published by TGL, Japan in 2002 for the Windows PC. It is the thirteenth game in the popular Farland Saga game franchise. It is very difficult to find much information about this game, as unfortunately, it was never properly released in the West. However, thanks to the tireless efforts of Farland franchise fans (and the awesome website mirrormoon.org) a completed English translation was done in 2011(?) and made available to Western gamers (Yay!).

The game is very much your standard turn based tactical/strategy rpg with an emphasis on battle strategies and tactics over exploration. Characters are assigned certain classes (fighter, mage, healer,etc) and normally gain experience from battles (story based and random battles). Battles will have specific winning conditions, like defeating all enemies or surviving a certain number of turns that a player must meet in order to advance the game. Additionally, in between battles, players can access characters to equip gear,learn spells, etc.

One of the key mechanics of this game's battle strategy centers around the four natural elements (fire, air.earth.water) which a character can harness in battle using the Focus command. By channeling a certain elemental energy will allow them to access various spells (for mages) or techniques (for fighters,brawlers) in battle. Hence, Yellow is Earth, Green is Air, Red is Fire and Blue is Water. So, in this video, for example, Saia is obviously a Mage class, when she channels the green element, she gains access to lightning and healing magic.

The story goes that Farland is a land governed by the Four Elements. In a peaceful forest village that worship the Green God, a young boy, Adi, longs for adventure away from his quite life. However, one day, that quite is shattered when unknown enemies attack the village. Even worse, Adi's master disappears. Adi, along with childhood friend Saia and mentor Mo, embark on an unforgettable and perilous journey..

Here, Adi and Saia go on a boar hunt (which in a way serves as the game's tutorial battle and I was so close, until the boss boar wrecked Adi. Darn it! ).
