FE11 H2 Draft Race Practice
I'm doing a race this weekend (most likely Sunday, the 13th) with 5 Points, CranJam, and Excelblem. The game: Shadow Dragon. The difficulty: H2. The stakes: my pride, I guess. FAQ and race rules are below.
Racers (subscribe to them all, they're cool):

FAQ:
1) Why in the heck do you keep closing and opening the game?
Shadow Dragon seeds its random number generator (RNG) through the Nintendo DS system clock (or, if using an emulator, the computer's clock). A different RNG seed exists for each second of time. Therefore, it is possible to rig the RNG in desirable ways by suspending the game, turning off the DS, turning it on again, setting the system time, and reopening the game. This seems slow, but is actually faster and more reliable in some instances than other methods (e.g. defeating the earlygame bosses with Gordin and javelins and risking Jagen to low critical hit chances vs. just rigging crits repeatedly).
2) Bro, isn't that cheating?
The race rules state RNG abuse is allowed. If you want to see a real cheater, look at Gazzak.
3) Okay, so what time are you using?
August 27, 2009 at 3:31:10 AM to rig a 2% critical hit with like a 16% hit chance. There are probably going to be other clock times for other things I need, like growths on Marth etc. Though growths are harder to rig in Shadow Dragon because of how growths work in the game (which I won't get into here, but look up "FE11 dynamic growth rates" for more info).
4) And what's with your team?
There are characters I would definitely prefer to draft. I am playing with characters that I would consider to be a lower-priority choice in case I don't get my top picks.
RACE RULES:
Draft:
This draft is for 4 players
The game will be played on Hard 2 difficulty
Math, Jagen, Xane, Gotoh, and Nagi are free for all chapters
Each player picks up to 10 characters in addition to the ones that are free
Snake draft order
Exceptions:
All units are permitted on Chapters 1, 2, and 3
(Use on chapter 4 and later requires them to be drafted)
Caeda is banned after completing Chapter 3
Rules:
The run will use an unmodified FE11 Shadow Dragon rom
Resets/Save points/RNG abuse are allowed
Emulator speed up/savestates/memory editing is not allowed
Any changes in the options menu (skip enemy turn, animations) are allowed
Recruitment, survival or usage of any unit, drafted, or undrafted is not required
Undrafted units can:
Be deployed to recruit a drafted unit in that chapter.
Be deployed to be killed off intentionally to access gaiden chapters
Participate in combat as long as they do not have a weapon equipped
Just be left alone if they’re automatically deployed (i.e. Tomas, Boah, Macellan, etc. on Chapter 12). There is no need to save or mess with them.
This is to reduce accidental rule violations for characters irrelevant to your run.
Be recruited for their items, as long as they are not used.
Undrafted units cannot:
Enter combat with a weapon equipped, unless they’re auto-deployed.
Use items (door keys, vulneraries, geosphere, etc.)
Use staves
Have staves used on them
Move except to recruit a drafted unit in a chapter or to be killed off intentionally
Gaiden chapters are allowed but are optional
Units from gaiden chapters must still be drafted to be used
The timer will progress in real time (not game time), and starts after selecting the difficulty, and ends right after killing medeus
There is a 15-minutebreak that can be taken at any point during the run. If the break is not taken during the run, it will be automatically taken at the end of the run and still count towards the time (this is to incentivize using the break if necessary)
If an undrafted unit is used, add five (?) minutes to the final time as a penalty for every chapter that you used that undrafted unit.
