F.E.A.R. - First Encounter Assault Recon (Extreme Difficulty with Commentary 3/3)
Thematically this is my favorite chapter of the game, especially the first couple of levels that take place inside run down apartments. You'll also start to find bigger guns much more frequently, including the behemoth that is the Autocannon, absolute unit of a gun that'd make Sam himself proud to weild.
What makes this final part of the game interesting is that it probably has the most amount of visual variety in the entire game. You start in run down apartments, find yourself walking along abandoned city streets, go through some dried up canals, and wind up in a high tech lab which even has decent lighting!
The only thing I don't care for about this section is the artificial difficulty. I mentioned it a few times, but basically the further into the game you go, enemies become more tanky and have insanely high damage output. They don't get better AI or anything, they just melt you quicker and shrug off attacks more easily. Heck, even the dumb Armacham security guards get these buffs, like wtf.
Another thing that really doesn't help is the level design of the Origin Facility; they're really long corridors where enemies always have the advantage and you're more or less forced to use ranged weapons and pop medkits in order to push through. That's not to say the levels don't have their moments, but I think everything sort of goes downhill after the epic apartment building shootout.
Still, even with its faults, I consider this to be one of the best linear FPS experiences to ever grace the genera.
Thanks again for watching and as always, stay Serious!
